Update August 19, 2024: I'm leaving this text as is, because it reflects my basic idea of tandem knitting… but since then, so many new yarns and patterns have been added to Nitiknitti that tandem knitting is no longer limited to just a simple mohair sweater. If you'd like to be added to the list of tandem knitters, feel free to write to me! Best, Niti
Hello everyone, who told me about Instagram Those who follow me will have come across my simple design for a feather-light mohair sweater more and more often in recent weeks. I've discovered a fantastic new yarn label ( majogarn ) and set up a collaboration to offer you ready-made knitting kits including instructions and an optional addi olive wood needle. Click here for the knitting kit. HERE

The sweater is designed as follows: we knit an oversize / one-size sweater using size 8 needles, which fits sizes 36-40 perfectly.
Our knitting kits contain all the yarn required (12 balls of 25g each), including instructions and a storage box for the "Nitis Oversize Mohair Sweater".
Optionally, an olive wood circular knitting needle from the brand addi in needle size 8 mm / 80 cm can be ordered at the same time.
Pearl Mohair consists of a luxurious blend of 70% Super Kid Mohair and 30% silk, which shines beautifully, is itch-free and feels incredibly soft and light.
Weight / Length: 25g = approx. 210m
The pattern calls for knitting with 4 strands of yarn.
This knitting kit was the first product in our recently launched online shop. We went live at 10:00 AM on a Friday and were completely sold out by 1:00 PM. I had a feeling you'd like it, but I hadn't expected such a response. I immediately ordered lots of new stock and more colors. We're constantly restocking the shop and are always expecting new items.
I received many inquiries via Instagram asking if I could offer this simple pattern (you only need to know how to knit and purl) as a finished knitted item. The idea immediately appealed to me…Nitiknitti as a fashion label, so to speak…DREAM!
Initially, I had the spontaneous idea of hiring knitters to create this design for me. A survey yielded over 200 interested women who wanted to have their garments knitted for them. However, after some consideration and discussions with experienced women in this field, I decided against it. Unfortunately, I don't have the personal resources to manage a knitting label, including the preliminary briefing, quality control, selection of knitters, setting standards, and so on. There's a lot involved, and I'd like to focus on other things right now and not expand my NK brand to include finished clothing.
Nevertheless, there is a need for this sweater to be knitted for women.
Therefore, I have developed a new idea with a networking focus:
Here, in order of receipt of messages and without any judgment on my part, I list the Instagram profiles of knitters who would like to knit my pattern for others. Please network directly with each other. I'm just making it visible.
Here's how it would work: a prospective customer selects their "perfect match" from the profiles and contacts them. If you both agree, the customer orders the material package from me. SHOP and has it delivered to her partner via the delivery address.
The knitter knits and sends the finished sweater to the customer within a reasonable timeframe. The customer then sends the knitter (you'll need to agree on whether this is in advance or after delivery) the payment and postage. I've had several discussions in recent days about a "fair wage" for this type of commissioned work. My suggestion for your initial negotiations would be €100 per sweater. Use this as a guideline and then develop your own arguments when you network with other knitters.
Update August 2024: There are now several models available in varying levels of difficulty, requiring different levels of expertise and time. In my opinion, a reasonable wage of around €150 is therefore quite acceptable.
