The Agnete Cardigan is worked from top to bottom in English rib. First, a double-knit section is worked at the neck, connecting to the front panels. Stitches are picked up on this section and the back is knitted. Next, the right and left front panels are worked. These three sections are gathered to form the body, which is worked in rows in English rib with double-knit panels. Buttonholes are made along the front panels. Stitches are picked up around the armholes for the sleeves.
First, knit a gauge swatch to determine the correct needle size for you. Keep in mind that the gauge may vary in height (i.e., the number of rows per 10 cm) depending on the yarn you choose. Most importantly, the gauge must be correct in width (i.e., the number of stitches per 10 cm).
At www.petiteknit.com you will find instructional videos on the pattern stitch and double knitting techniques.
Size guide
The Agnete Cardigan should have a positive ease of 10-15 cm in relation to your chest measurement. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL fit a chest measurement of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan can be found on the front page of the pattern. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine the size that fits you best. If your chest measurement (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm, you should choose size S. A size S cardigan has a chest measurement of 105 cm and in this case would have a positive ease of 15 cm.
