The November Balaclava is knitted from top to bottom in half-rib stitch. First, a square is worked on top of the head. Then, stitches are picked up on both sides of the square and the balaclava is knitted downwards, where stitches are picked up again (under the chin) and worked in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up around the face opening for a ribbed hem.

The balaclava has a feminine fit, and although it covers the ears, it doesn't extend particularly far into the face. Please note that the measurements given are after washing. The balaclava must be washed before use and may shrink due to the half-rib pattern.

First, knit a gauge swatch to determine the correct needle size for you. Wash the swatch before measuring from it.
