The Scarlet Cardigan is worked top down with lines of slipped stitches on the back and along the inside of the sleeves. First, the upper part of the back is worked in rows, while the shoulder slant is formed with short rows. Next, an I-cord border is made along the cast-on back edge, and stitches are cast on for the shoulders, which are knitted separately in rows on a circular needle, while increases are also made for the V-neck. Both fronts and the back are joined to form the body, which is knitted in rows on a circular needle. The sleeves are knitted from cast-on stitches around the armholes. Finally, stitches are cast on along the front edges for the bands, which are worked in double knit.
Size guide
The Scarlet Cardigan should have a positive ease of approximately 25 cm in the smaller sizes and a gradually smaller amount of movement in the larger sizes. Sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) will fit a chest measurement of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan can be found on the front page. Note: These measurements are only correct if the gauge is adhered to. Take measurements of yourself before you start knitting to determine the size that fits you best. If your chest (or widest part) measures 90 cm, you should choose a size S. A size S cardigan has a chest measurement of 115 cm and, in the example shown, would have a positive ease of 25 cm. Size charts can be found here .
