Woolia – New sustainable merino yarn for needle sizes 4-6mm

This yarn is made from a very special wool, wool from an old, original Italian sheep breed, Merino Gentile Puglia.

“Woolia is spun from the wool of lambs and sheep of the original Italian Merino breed.
This breed lived and lives today again in a small local area in Apulia and other similar regions. Apulia is the sheep's original habitat, so they stay healthy much more easily naturally. This form of sheep farming and grazing is the most sustainable form of wool production. It is environmentally friendly and offers the best living conditions for both sheep and sheep farmers.
The farmers sort the wool themselves and sell it directly to our spinning mill. This way, the farmer gets a better price for the wool, and we know the product down to the individual small flocks of sheep."

Woolia is pleasantly soft and pill-free. They also have about 30% more yardage than other yarns of the same weight.
This makes a sweater light, even with a cable pattern or Fair Isle knit.
When you first touch the wool, it will likely feel a little dry—a typical characteristic of this merino wool. This property gives the yarn its exceptional lightness and ensures that Woolia knitwear retains its shape regardless of the needle size. Woolia is also non-itchy and maintains a beautiful surface.

Gauge: Woolia can be knitted with various needle sizes, which is one of Woolia's unique features. The most common gauge is 16–18 stitches per 10 cm.

Needle size 6 mm: 15 m = 10 cm, suitable for scarves, plaids and other slightly looser knitwear.

Needle size 5.5 mm: 16 m = 10 cm results in a somewhat loose knitting pattern.

Needle size 5 mm: 17 m = 10 cm. Suitable for all types of sweaters.

Needle size 4.5mm: 18m = 10cm Suitable for long coats, heavily used men's knitwear, etc.

Needle size 4mm: 19m = 10cm, mainly for durable men's knitwear, pillows and other strong knitwear

You can also knit Woolia + Silk Mohair (Pearl Mohair or Mohair Luxe), on needles 5-6mm
